Shahr Park in Arak, Markazi Province, Iran
“The Ghilzai, also known historically as Ghilji, Khilji and Gharzai
(ghar literally means "mountain" and zai "born of"),
are the second-largest Pashtun tribal confederacy
found in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
“During the 14th and 15th centuries,
various Khilji dynasties and ruling entities
took control in the Indian subcontinent,
including the Lodhi dynasty of Delhi and the Suri Dynasty.
“Before their expansion into India,
the Khaljis were mainly concentrated in Turkestan.
“Many migrated to Iran, and possibly to Armenia, Iraq,
Anatolia, Turkmenistan, the Punjab
and what are now modern Pakistan and Afghanistan,
“In Iran they migrated mainly to Pars,
where they settled an isolated region
which is called today Khaljistan ("land of Khaljis").
